DBS (deep brain stimulation) for Medically-refactory Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

Deep brain stimulation was approved in 2009 by the FDA under an HDE (Humanitarian Device Exemption) for treatment of patients with disabling, medically-refractory OCD. This treatment option is only appropriate for a small minority of OCD patients who have not benefited from standard medical or cognitive therapy. A thorough evaluation by our Psychiatry team is required to determine eligibility for this study.
